Midge

CGC Trained

To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing to express my deepest gratitude for The Furgiving Project, a program created by Cory Kreager at Idaho Correctional Institution Orofino. This program has not only had a profound impact on my life but also embodies the true meaning of rehabilitation and community service.

On February 4, 2024, I was fortunate to adopt Midge, a 1.5-year-old black lab, through The

Furgiving Project. Midge arrived not just as a pet but as a trained companion equipped to help

manage my panic attacks. Her secondary trainer, Chris Griffith, dedicated time and care to teaching Midge a unique "flooding" technique, providing much-needed support during my

moments of struggle.

My visit to the Idaho Correctional Institution Orofino was an enriching experience. Sergeant Lichti warmly greeted me at the front entrance. Cory, Midge's primary trainer, and Chris, her secondary trainer, welcomed me with kindness and compassion. Witnessing Midge's obedience and happy demeanor during her training session was truly inspiring. The visible bond between Midge and her handlers spoke volumes about the program's positive impact on both the dogs and the inmates involved. Cory and Chris patiently guided me through Midge's commands and provided a folder containing weekly training progress reports, veterinary records, and a DVD tutorial. This level of dedication and care ensured a smooth transition for Midge and me.

Since joining our family, Midge has transformed our lives. She has become a cherished companion not only to me but also to our other dog, revitalizing his old soul. Her gentle nature and interaction with my children have brought immense joy and laughter into our home.

The benefits of The Furgiving Project extend far beyond individual stories like mine. This program offers dogs a second chance at a meaningful life while providing inmates with a renewed sense of purpose and valuable social and emotional skills, preparing them for successful reintegration into society.

From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank everyone involved in The Furgiving Project for your

love, dedication, and unwavering commitment to making a positive difference. Your work is truly

commendable, and the impact you create is immeasurable.

Sincerely,

Kimberly P.
