Rosie had another great week. I was really impressed and pleased with her playtime with Maverick on Tuesday. They played like regular dogs. She had no aggression and was not vocal or nipping at him like she did last time.
I am also training her to back up while in a heel if she pulls ahead. For the heel command going forward, the left leg leads off so for the back command, the left leg takes a step back. When doing this, Rosie will back up with her handler. One to two steps at a time she does great but walking in a straight back line she tends to curl to the right behind the handler. I will continue to work with her on this to ensure she backs up in a straight line.
I am focusing a bit more on her public access test as well with “under” and “leave it.” Rosie will need to be able to sit next to a hamburger without trying to eat it. I am using dog food in a bowl and reinforcing “leave it” and she is doing well. It is humorous but she has started to avoid the food by walking around it or sitting far away from it.
Overall it was a great week!
