Jimmy has gotten much better at ignoring other dogs when they bark or alert at new people or dogs they do not know. When the other dogs bark, Jimmy looks at the handler and gets praised for not barking back.
Stability pressure is going very well. Jimmy knows 'touch' with an open palm for him to boop his nose on. We used this as a target to position Jimmy standing directly in front of us horizontally, and are able to rest two hands on his upper back, applying some pressure as if we were resting on him.
The dog program as a while went away from the unit for about an hour and we left Jimmy in his crate by himself for that time. When we got back, Jimmy was let out of his crate and seemed very anxious with panting, whining, and pacing. This could have been excitement, so we will do this more often so Jimmy will feel more confident being alone for longer periods. He does, however, act fine when we hand the lead over to another handler, walk out of sight for a couple of minutes, and return. He shows no signs of distress.
Dinner trips have been successful every time. Jimmy is guided under the table with the command 'under' and he lays down and does not move. He will typically lay his head down and watch patiently what's going on around the cafeteria. He is not bothered by noises or movements. Jimmy also does well without treats going out for potty breaks and institutional walks. Positive praise and head pets work great for Jimmy because he loves to work.
