Emery has already learned "under" because we have been taking her down to the chow hall for dinner trips since her first week. This week we introduced a bowl of food while she is under the table and she is taught to "leave it" or ignore it. This simulates food dropped from a restaurant table in public.
Her "stay" is strong and maintains eye contact when the handler leaves and walks around her until we return to her in the heel position.
There were a few small incidents where Emery was sitting next to the handler and we had someone come up in a non-threatening manner to pet her. She tolerated it with mild cowering for a few seconds until she nipped at the person to stop. No certain sport like an ear or belly sensitivity because the people were petting under the chin or her back.
She continues to cower to strangers but is slowly warming up to people with treats and familiar people.
We have also been closely monitoring her water intake and taking her out to extra potty breaks. She has had a few leaking accidents. Lieutenant has been made aware of the issue.
