This week, we continued to focus on trust-building and exposure exercises for Charlie as part of his foundational training plan. While he remains fearful of unfamiliar people and environments, we are seeing consistent signs of progress.
Our primary goal this week was to help Charlie feel more confident in new spaces and around a wider range of staff. We introduced structured desensitization walks through different areas of the facility, paired with plenty of positive reinforcement. While Charlie initially showed hesitation and signs of stress—such as freezing or retreating—he was able to settle more quickly than in previous weeks, especially when accompanied by a trusted trainer.
We also incorporated short, low-pressure interactions with additional staff members to help expand his comfort zone. Though he is still wary, Charlie has started to approach new people with curiosity rather than avoidance when given time and space to do so on his terms.
Importantly, Charlie continues to deepen his bond with his primary trainers. This relationship is playing a key role in helping him navigate his fears and build confidence.
Moving forward into Week 4, we’ll continue gradual exposure to new environments and people, while also beginning to introduce more structured obedience exercises in low-distraction settings to keep his confidence growing.
Charlie has shown resilience and sensitivity, and with ongoing patience and support, we believe he will continue to make meaningful progress.
